Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL)

The École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) is a research institute and university in Switzerland that specializes in natural sciences and engineering. It is one of the two Swiss Federal Institutes of Technology, and it has three main missions: education, research and technology transfer at the highest international level.

The POWERlab, directed by Prof. Elison Matioli, is a research laboratory part of EPFL that focuses on semiconductor electronic devices. In particular and more relevant to this project, the POWERlab develops new nanostructured-based device concepts based on GaN semiconductors for efficient power electronics.

Role

The role of the EPFL will be to develop advanced lateral device concepts for Tri-gate normally-off GaN HEMTs with p-GaN technology.

Key Contribution

The contribution of the POWERlab will be on the W.P. 2, objective 2.4, with the development of Tri-gate concepts for 600V normally-off Tri-gate HEMTs.
